Tanner Fritz signs NHL contract

Another Grande Prairie product has signed an entry-level NHL contract. Tanner Fritz has agreed to a two- year, two-way deal with the New York Islanders.

The forward was born in Grande Prairie and played four seasons with the Storm. He’s now in the middle of his first full professional season with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL, after playing 19 games with the team last year.

Fritz is ranked second for scoring on the Sound Tigers this season, and has 19 goals and 21 assists in 61 games. He also has six power play goals, which ties him for eighth among all American Hockey League rookies.

His contract will come into effect in the 2017-2018 season.
