It came down to the wire, but La Glace has won their own mini-Big Valley Jamboree festival. They led the Small Town Saturday Night contest for almost the entire time, but were given a run for their money in the last couple of days by the community of Duchess.
La Glace ended up getting nearly a quarter of the 130,000 online votes, earning them the grand prize of a concert at the local arena on April 29th. Gord Bamford will headline, supported by several other country stars.
All of the funds raised by ticket sales will go to the La Glace and District Agricultural Society to help build a new Regional Recreation Centre. Planning will start right away, and tickets will go on sale the second week of April.
The Town of Peace River also made it to the top 10, and earned the third highest amount of votes. Valleyview and Falher also entered the contest, but didn’t make it to the final round.
