Carfentanil turned up in search of Hinton homes

After a search of two homes in Hinton in January, it has been confirmed that some of the drugs turned up were Carfentanil. Officers executed a search warrant for two houses in the Sunset Trailer Court early that month. They found handguns, an assault rifle, long guns, drugs and cash.

Six people were arrested during the search and are facing numerous charges. These include trafficking charges for Cocaine, Heroin and Methamphetamine as well as firearms charges.

After analyzing the drugs further, Health Canada has confirmed that one of the white powdery substances was Carfentanil. RCMP warn that this drug is 100 times more potent than Fentanyl. Police say that it looks like table salt and a few granules can trigger a fatal overdose.
