Man killed in crash with semi west of Hythe

UPDATE: All lanes on Highway 43 are now open.

Traffic on Highway 43 eastbound is down to one lane after a fatal crash early this morning. Beaverlodge RCMP say just before 2:30 a.m., a car heading towards the town crossed the centre line near Range Road 123.

The car hit an oncoming semi-tractor trailer that was heading west. The man driving the vehicle was declared dead at the scene while the 41 year old man driving the truck wasn’t hurt.

An RCMP Collision Analyst is still on the scene investigating. Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Beaverlodge detachment or Crime Stoppers.

The name of the deceased has not been released.
