An information night is being held March 21st for those who want to learn more about the impacts of fentanyl. Tyla Savard decided to put together the event after dealing with a daughter who has a fentanyl addiction.
“We want to be able to share information with parents and professionals as well as the community. To understand when you hear headlines in the news, what does it mean. What is fentanyl? Why is it so scary? Get your mind around what it is all about.”
She rounded up people from HIV North, addictions treatment centre, and the RCMP to speak about the drug. RCMP will speak on their side of dealing with the drug in the community.
“Just to give us the other side of what they are dealing with. obviously they want to put the bad guys away but at the same time, they are definitely willing to work with anyone that is going through this. They are not out there to just throw you in jail. They want to help you.”
Savard along with another family will be sharing their stories. There are also three previous fentanyl users at different points of recovery that will be speaking as well.
The event will be held on Tuesday, March 21st at City on 99 at 7:00 pm. The presentation is called “Fentanyl: What you need to know”.
