Twin 8 year old girls from Grande Prairie have donated their hair to make wigs for those battling cancer. Katelyn and Andrea Brewster started thinking about doing the good deed when they were 6 years old.
“My great grandma got cancer and wore a wig for a while. We decided to cut our hair and donate it to cancer.”
They raised $2400 to go toward cancer research as well. Inspiration also came from when their nanny who first cut her hair off to donate.

The twins’ dad Jeff Brewster brought them to their appointment Friday at Factory Hair Studio Inc.
“It’s a pretty proud moment that’s for sure. If anyone comes up with an idea to help others, you fully support it. I am sure great grandma would be very, very, very proud.”
Around 8 to 10 inches of blonde hair from each girl was donated to the cause.
Salon owner Colleen Bromby helped bring the twin’s dream into reality.
“I just really think it is important for these girls to know that they have  support. I think what they did is incredible and brave. I am proud of them too.”
The girls have also inspired a few of their friends to join in the cause and cut off their hair.
