Sawed off rifle found in Grimshaw area home

A woman out on bail from a criminal investigation in Grande Prairie has allegedly been caught with illegal drugs and guns. She was pulled over in a rural area north of Grimshaw Wednesday afternoon.

After drugs were found in the vehicle she was driving, Peace Regional RCMP got a search warrant for the house she came from. Inside, they found a small amount of meth, three high capacity prohibited firearm magazines, an unsecured rifle and a sawed off prohibited rifle. They also found things related to drug trafficking.

“This is good police work that has removed a sawed off prohibited weapon from the community,” says Detachment Commander of Peace Regional RCMP Staff Sergeant Brent Meyer.

An investigation continues, but charges against the 19 year old woman for what was seized and breaching recognizance are pending.
