Sunrise Records taking over 70 HMV locations

We should find out in the coming days whether the Grande Prairie HMV location is one of 70 being taken over by Sunrise Records. The music retailer has announced it’s picking up more than two-thirds of the 102 shops HMV is closing after being put into receivership.

So far six locations have been announced, including the two-storey one in the West Edmonton Mall. More will be revealed as details are finalized.

Sunrise says it will be increasing CDs by 50 per cent, and adding more clothing and merchandise. It also wants to talk to the more than 1-thousand employees looking for work. Sunrise’s stores should start to open in early April. The spot in the Prairie mall shuttered over the weekend.
