A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a man accused of having a trove of automatic weapons on a rural property south of the hamlet of Deadwood. Manning RCMP searched the property on February 17th after getting reports of automatic rifles being fired.

Officers found 37 guns, including a prohibited, Chinese-made AK-47 and a prohibited drum-style magazine that can hold 100 rifle rounds. A rifle believed to have been modified to fire fully automatic was also turned up, along with a large amount of ammunition.

33 year old Chad Wood of Deadwood has been charged with a total of 32 criminal charges, but he wasn’t found at the scene. He was last known to be in the Peace River area, and police ask anyone who knows where he is to call the Manning detachment or Crime Stoppers.
