PWA grads to walk catwalk as fundraiser

Peace Wapiti Academy will be hosting its first ever grad fashion show and auction tonight. Grade 12 students will be modelling fashions from local stores, and then get bid on for two hours of chores or cleaning. Grad parent communication executive Marcus Vanstone says all the proceeds will help fund their upcoming celebrations.

“Basically it’s going towards all the stuff that isn’t covered by the grad fees like the extra decorations, the photos the grads want to do, printing the programs, renting the facilities. It’s a big event for the kids who are graduating so we want to make sure it works out.”

Doors to the gym open at 6 p.m. and the teens will take to the catwalk starting at 7. They’ll then be auctioned off in pairs, and since Vanstone’s daughter is a skilled vehicle detailer, he expects she’ll go for a high amount.

“It’s very fun and it’s a good way for the kids to kind of get together and participate in their last year together. We’re hoping not only the grads and the grad parents, but everybody else in the community will come support the grads from all over.”

Tickets cost $10 a person or $30 for a family.
