Sexsmith Vipers defenceman earns league honours

A member of the Sexsmith Vipers has been named the top defenceman of the North West Junior Hockey League. Max McNeil of Spirit River is taking home this year’s honours with 6 goals and 16 assists this season, second in points on his team.

Kenton White of the Fairview Flyers was named MVP and top goaltender. Wesley Shipton of the Dawson Creek Canucks is the league’s top scorer, while Ben Moffatt of the Flyers is most gentlemanly. The rookie of the year nod went to Josh Sylvain of the North peace Navigators, while Canucks coach Gene Cooper was the best bench boss.

Albert Cooper from Peace River is this year’s Al Spence Award recipient, given to a volunteer who takes the time to promote and grow the league. None of the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings made the list this year.

There are just a few games left to finalize the playoff bracket.
