Man arrested after night of mayhem near Beaverlodge

RCMP have a man in custody after he spent a night wreaking havoc in the Beaverlodge area. Police first heard about a man driving a stolen vehicle Wednesday afternoon, but couldn’t find him.

Later on, he was spotted asking for vehicle keys from people at a house in the rural area, and when officers showed up, he got into the vehicle and hit a police cruiser as he drove off. The suspect continued to cause trouble, trying to break in to multiple homes and damaging a business’ fence.

Mounties finally arrested him after his vehicle got stuck in a ditch and he tried to run off. 43 year old Chad Wiwchar of Hythe is facing a total of 41 charges. He’ll appear in court in Grande Prairie on February 13th.
