NEB holding info sessions on proposed pipeline abandonment

Anyone looking for information on the National Energy Board’s hearing process for the proposed Peace River Mainline Abandonment Project can find out more at meetings tonight and tomorrow. Nova Gas Transmission wants to remove a nine kilometre section of a pipeline on Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation Reserve Land, and leave the other 257 kilometres unused.

NGTL would also get rid of a decommissioned compressor station and other buildings. The section to be abandoned is about 34 kilometres west of Peace River, between Valleyview and the Manning area.

A public hearing will be held, and people can apply to take part before March 16th. An info session is set for tonight in Grande Prairie from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Stonebridge Hotel, with another at the same time Thursday at the Chateau Nova Peace River.
