UPDATE: Extreme cold warning for Grande Prairie region over

UPDATE: Environment Canada has ended the extreme cold warning for the Grande Prairie region.

The extreme cold warning continues for the peace country. Environment Canada is warning of temperatures dipping as low as minus 40 with the windchill.

In the 6:00 am hour of February 6th, temperatures were reported as low as minus 44. In the forecast overnight, cold wind chills are expected between minus 35 and minus 45. Environment Canada says it will warm up slightly during the day on Tuesday.

Hypothermia and frost bite are worries in this type of weather and it is recommended to dress appropriately. If they are not dressed properly, babies, the elderly, people working outside, and homeless are some of many that could be at risk.
