Parents invited to workshop on “sexting” and online porn

The Grande Prairie RCMP and P.A.C.E. are teaming up to help local parents learn more about the hyper-sexualized culture their children are growing up in. Online porn is now the most accessed form of sex-ed, and the average age a child first accesses it is only eight years old.

Constable Gabrielle Spencer will be talking about the legal age of consent and the consequences of “sexting” – sending sexually explicit messages or images – along with the techniques that child predators use online. Sexual trauma therapist Monique Sundlie will also go over resources for families and professionals to wade through the impact porn culture has on young people.

The presentation will be held in the gym of Harry Balfour School February 7th from 6 to 8:30 p.m. It is not suitable for children.
