It seems the economic downturn has Grande Prairie looking for a little romance. For the first time since the rankings started eight years ago, the Swan City has made it on to Amazon.ca’s list of Canada’s Most Romantic Cities.
The online shop looks at sales of romance novels, romantic comedies, relationship books, jewelry and other adult products on a per capita basis. In its debut, Grande Prairie was ranked fourth, largely because of how many Danielle Steel and Nora Roberts novels fill the bookshelves and e-reader librairies of residents.
Other Alberta cities on the top 20 rankings include Calgary, Red Deer, and Lethbridge in 10th, 11th, and 12th place, and Medicine Hat and Edmonton in 16th and 17th. Victoria, B.C is at the top of the list for the fifth year in a row.
