Storm coach, players suspended for staged fight

Several suspensions have been handed out to members of the Grande Prairie Storm after what the AJHL is calling a “staged fight” during their game in Bonnyville Saturday. The near line brawl broke out as the puck was being dropped to start the third period.

Cruz Cote, Walker Cote, and Landon Vollman have each been handed five game suspensions for being instigators, and Vollman has earned an extra game as it’s his fifth fighting major of the season. Head coach Matt Keillor has also been suspended for three games.

The Storm lost that game 4-0 after a 4-2 loss in Bonnville Friday. Defenseman Jason Wenzel was handed a two game suspension in that matchup for a major interference penalty. Without Keillor at the helm, Sunday’s game in Sherwood Park was also a loss 7-2.
