Man murdered in Atikameg

A 32 year old man has been shot and killed in Atikameg. High Prairie RCMP found his body at a home on the settlement just after 9:15 p.m. Saturday night.

An investigation by the Major Crime Unit is now underway, and so far it’s believed the shooting wasn’t random. Witnesses have been interviewed and officers are still going over the scene of the homicide. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, but the man’s identity has not yet been released.

There’s no word yet on whether police have a suspect. Anyone with information on the murder is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
