Northern Alberta has seen its first flu death of the season. According to the latest numbers from Alberta Health Services, the fatal case happened in the past week, but where the person died isn’t released for privacy reasons.
Since October, there have been 75 lab confirmed cases of Influenza A and B in the north zone, and 10 people hospitalized. Province-wide there have been 13 deaths from the flu and more than a million doses of vaccine given out.
