Electoral boundaries discussion coming to Grande Prairie

Alberta’s electoral boundaries are being re-drawn this year, and Grande Prairie residents can have their say at an upcoming public hearing.

A five member committee was put together last year to look at changing the boundaries of Alberta’s 87 ridings to better reflect the province’s changing population. The last time this was done was in 2010.

A meeting will be held in Grande Prairie on January 19th at the Sandman Hotel. Anyone looking to present to the panel is asked to register on the Alberta Electoral Boundaries Commission’s website by the 12th. A meeting will also be held in Peace River earlier in the day.

An interim report is expected by May.
