Door-to-door energy sales ends in Alberta

You will no longer have to deal with aggressive door-to-door sales people in Grande Prairie or across the province. That is the idea behind a ban that has been put on the sales of things like furnaces, natural gas and energy audits.

Minister of Service Stephanie MacLean says Albertans were sick of aggressive sales tactics on their doorsteps prompting the change on January 1st. Companies that do not follow the restriction could see charges under the Fair Trading Act. This could mean a fine of up to $300,00 or a prison sentence up to two years.

Companies will still be able to reach out to consumers through kiosks, phone calls or online sales.
