Results and forecasts are in for oil production in Alberta

The numbers are in from the Alberta Energy Regulator’s annual reserves report.

In 2013 the province saw an 8% growth in the production of crude bitumen, and a 5% increase in crude oil production.

The report also forecasts that by 2023, raw bitumen production in Alberta will nearly double, from 21. million barrels per day, to 4.1 million.

As far as what’s still in the ground, the AER estimates there 169 billion barrels of crude bitumen and oil left to harvest.
