City council members off to national FCM conference

The annual Federation of Canadian Municipalities conference kicks off tomorrow in Niagara Falls. Mayor Bill Given is one of six members of Grande Prairie city council that is attending the event. He says he is looking forward to getting an update on the federal government’s Build Canada program.
“In the federal budget this year, the government announced continued support for the program, but I think municipalities are really looking for the implementation.  And so I will be interested to see if this national conference has extra details that will help the city of Grande Prairie on that front.”
Given adds the conference also gives them the chance to talk with municipal leaders from other provinces, and learn how they handle similar experiences.
