Dinner held for those in need on Christmas Day

It’s the fifth year in a row that anyone in need will be able to head to a local restaurant for a meal and some company on Christmas day. Owner Craig Sutherland says he invites people without anywhere to go to come down to Swiss Chalet for a festive meal.

He says the homeless, people who are alone for Christmas, or who are just feeling down in the dumps from the economic times are invited.

“What we discovered was that there are a lot of people that are alone. It wasn’t just the young people but it was also the elderly. They were thinking we were just open as a restaurant. It just grew from there. It is just open for anyone who wants to come in.”

The meal is free and the doors to the restaurant will open at 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday. There will also be a shuttle provided by the Holiday Inn for those that need a ride.
