Beaverlodge in need of volunteers during boil water advisory

The Town of Beaverlodge could be under a boil water advisory for the next four to six days and they are looking for help. While they distribute clean drinking water, they are requesting volunteers for their Water Distribution Centre.

There are 24 packs of bottled water being distributed daily to households at the town hall. They are requesting that each resident bring their own bag when picking them up.

The advisory was issued by Alberta Health Services after an alarm was triggered on Tuesday. It has been confirmed that mud or sludge got into the clear water area of the plant which sounded the alarm. Work needs to be done on the system and will then need to be flushed.

The pool was closed Wednesday because of health concerns but after looking into the facility, it will be back open Thursday.

Anyone who drank the water before hearing the notice has a low risk of getting ill. You should get medical help if you start to have a fever, diarrhea or vomiting.

Anyone who would like to volunteer can contact Matthew Norburn at [email protected] or at 780-354-2201 ext 1005.
