TransCanada plans for northwestern Alberta pipeline expansion

NOVA Gas Transmission is expected to apply for a new pipeline expansion in northwestern Alberta next fall. The TransCanada subsidiary wants to add 29 kilometres next to existing lines in the region. Plans also call for more compressor units at existing sites and new metering facilities.

The Saddle West Natural Gas Project is expected to increase the company’s capacity by 355 million cubic feet a day. NOVA Gas says it’s needed to meet demand in the Montney, Duvernay, and Deep Basin areas.

The hope is to start construction in 2018, and be done by the next year.
