Stompede chuckwagons roll out tonight in Grande Prairie

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association kicks off their 2014 race season iat Gordon Badger stadium at Evergreen Park.

Former Grande Prairie resident and WPCA driver Rick Fraser says kicking off the season here is always a lot of fun.

“You get to come home to your hometown and you’ve got a lot of family/friends, and sometimes they even cheer for you!’

 

The defending Stompede and World Champion is expecting another competitive season.

“The guys every year get better and better horses, and the nutrition and caretaking just improves all the time.”

Fraser also holds the Grande Prairie track record of 1:13:58, which he set back in 2011.

The first go around for the wagons is at 5 p.m. tonight at Evergreen Park, followed right after by the first night of rodeo action.
