Housing starts in Grande Prairie have picked up for the second month in a row. Construction started on 23 new homes in November, up from 16 a year ago. The growth came from single family homes, which nearly doubled, while multi-unit buildings dropped.
Despite the growth, 2016’s pace is still a third behind last year. There have been 227 starts so far this year, down from 343 after 11 months of 2015. The building of multiple family homes is down by 50 per cent, a trend seen across the province.
