Grande Prairie to host female hockey showcase

One year after hosting the Hometown Hockey Tour, Grande Prairie will be home to another major celebration of the sport. Hockey Alberta’s first ever Alberta Hockey Day will be held at the Coca Cola Centre on January 21st.

The day is billed as a way to both celebrate and showcase female hockey across the province, with smaller events being held in other cities. Special guests will include two-time Olympic gold medallist Carla MacLeod, who used to play on Team Alberta.

In addition to clinics, seminars, and a three-on-three tournament, an Alberta Female Hockey League game between the Peace Country’s Bantam Elite team and Edmonton will be played. All events are free, but some need pre-registration.
