Stretch of Resources Road speed limit reduced to 70 km/h

A speed limit change has gone into effect today on Resources Road, heading out towards Evergreen Park.

County Council has approved reducing the speed limit from 80 to 70 kilometres an hour, from the entrance to the Wedgewood subdivision to just south of the Correction line.

The change is consistent with what the speed limit is for Resources Road once you get into city limits.

Reeve Leanne Beaupre says it has become a very busy stretch of roadway over the last few years.

“Not only just to the golf courses and the residential areas out there, but also down to Weyerhaeuser. So we see a large volume of traffic move daily through there, and with different types of events happening at Evergreen Park, we’ve seen an increase in traffic accidents happen in that area.”

The switch takes effect immediately, right in time for the start of Stompede at Evergreen Park.

The Public Works department is working on installing speed change notification signs in that area as soon as possible.
