Downtown road construction wraps up for winter

It started late and not as much got done as planned, but construction downtown has finished for the winter. Connor Coney with the city says they were hurt by harsh weather but were able to get a large chuck of the first phase finished.

That includes new sanitary, storm and sewer lines along 101st Street from behind Revolution Place to north of 100th Avenue. The waterline connection to the area was also replaced. Crews were able to pave and do curbs along that stretch, along the sidewalks between 99th and 100th Avenue are only temporary and will be replaced next spring.

Once the weather allows again, workers will continue north to the alley just past 102nd Avenue. They’ll then get started on the second phase, which will be on 101st Avenue from the Golden Age Centre to 100th Street.
