Clear Hills County residents help capture wanted man

RCMP finally have Malcolm Testawits in custody. The 31 year old has evaded capture since October 25th, when he was involved in a collision in the rural Fairview area. He escaped in an unmarked police vehicle and is believed to be responsible for several crimes in the area.

Testawits was spotted near a property in Clear Hills County around 9 p.m. Thursday night. He was wearing a ski mask and riding a quad, followed by another person in a truck. That truck had been reported stolen and was later found in a ditch.

Officers from several detachments including Grande Prairie searched the area, but a group of local residents were the ones to find and restrain him. He’s now in the Peace Regional RCMP detachment waiting for a bail hearing. He’s facing several charges, with more than 30 warrants out for his arrest.

Police are asking people to come forward with information on property crimes in the area. While they appreciate the help of concerned citizens, they remind the public not to approach anyone considered a dangerous suspect.
