A new deal between doctors and the province was signed this morning. The agreement between the Alberta government, Alberta Health Services and Alberta Medical Association is projected to save up to 500 million dollars over the next two years.
It changes the terms of an existing contract that runs until 2018 and is meant to make health services more efficient. Included is a plan to put doctors in places where they’re most needed, and the government says it will improve information sharing.
When votes were counted last month, 74 per cent of voting physicians were in favour of ratifying the deal.
