Company fined for illegally spraying pesticide near Falher

A Westlock-based company has been fined for illegally spraying a pesticide near Falher more than three years ago. Western Air Spray plead guilty in Slave Lake court on June 8th and was ordered to pay $12,500 for applying the chemical without valid registration. Other charges against the company, its director, and the employee involved were dropped.

The province says the aerial spraying was done on farmland between June and December 2013. It notes that pesticide service providers have to be properly trained and equipped as aerial spraying can cause environmental damage.
