Manslaughter charge laid after body found in Dawson Creek home

An arrest has been made in connection with what police in Dawson Creek are calling a homicide. A body was found at a home on Saturday, and the B.C. RCMP’s North District Major Crimes Unit was called in to help investigate.

One person has been taken into custody and charged with manslaughter. Their name isn’t being released, along with their age or gender, but a woman named Candice Dawn Shearer was set to appear in court this morning on a manslaughter charge stemming from an incident on November 12th. She’s also facing three other charges from earlier this year, including an assault on March 8th.

RCMP say there’s no risk to the general public as they continue to investigate.
