Female PC leadership candidates drop out

Both of the women in the running for the Alberta PC leadership have dropped out of the race.

Calgary MLA Sandra Jansen blames harassment and intimidation tactics she’s faced over the past several weeks and last weekend in Red Deer. She says she’s been attacked on social media, had her domain name purchased to send people to smear pieces about her, and had insults written on her nomination forms.

At the same time, Calgary-Varsity MLA Donna Kennedy-Glans calls politics in Alberta “polarizing”, and argues there’s is limited opportunities for centrist voices.

MLA Richard Starke, Calgary lawyer Byron Nelson, former PC MLA Stephen Khan, and former Calgary MP Jason Kenney remain on the ballot.
