Residents encouraged to help others on Random Act of Kindness Day

Residents are encouraged to let their nice side show tomorrow for Random Act of Kindness day. The Community Foundation of Northwestern Alberta started celebrating the day six years ago and CEO Tracey Vavrek says the event is not about fundraising. She says it is a day to highlight how great the community can be.

“Kindness is amazing. I talk about doing acts, but the impact of kindness is immense for a person is able to do a little bit extra for someone and the person receiving.”

She encourages people to pass on kindness through out and reach out to someone in need.

“My heart is filled with gratitude with all this community is. Everyday I get the opportunity to work with people that care and Random Act of Kindness Day is all about helping others to see if they can do a little bit more.”

The city of Grande prairie and the foundation will have a bu parked outside of Centre 2000 to help people do good deeds. They will be collecting warm articles of clothing for those in need and non-perishable snacks for kids from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

People who want to document the good deeds they do throughout the day can hashtag their pictures and videos on social media with #RAKday2016.
