A pipeline system expansion with parts across the Peace region has been approved by the federal government. NOVA Gas Transmission’s $1.3 billion project includes five pipeline section loops and two compression station units.
Two of those loops are northwest of Spirit River and just east of the B.C. border in Clear Hills County, and another will connect Edson with the Grande Prairie mainline. One 30 megawatt compressor unit addition will go in east of Manning and a 15 megawatt one at a station 15 kilometres northwest of GP.
TransCanada expects construction to create 3,000 jobs. The project’s approval comes with 36 binding conditions recommended by the National Energy Board.
