Nitehawk preparing for upcoming season

With snow on the ground, some people have their minds on the ski hill. Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Assistant General Manager Johnathon Clarkson says there is a way to prepare for the season in an affordable way with the annual Ski & Snowboard Swap.

“Last year, we had over 1200 people through the door and sold over $90,000 worth of ski and snowboard gear into the community in the form of new or gently used equipment donated by the community as well as local ski and board shops.”

Proceeds will go back into running the ski hill. Clarkson says last year, they had families outfitting their families for around $150. The event takes place on November 5th at Evergreen Park with equipment drop off on November 4th from 4:00pm to 8pm.

The swap will take place just in time for the hill’s soft opening on November 19th. Clarkson says if the weather starts to stay around minus 8 to minus 10 degrees, they can start to make snow 24 hours a day for the hill. This season they will also be adding Service Free Ski Fridays which will happen on one Friday every month.

“The family can come out and basically ski for free. For those who need rentals, we will have deals for you on that. That one Friday a month will be a free lift ticket for anyone who comes out.”

Season passes are on sale for a discounted price until the end November 5th. They will be sold at Evergreen Park on the day of the swap but they are also sold at Ernie’s Sports Experts and on their website.
