Memorial set for former Premier Jim Prentice

A state memorial will be held this Friday for former Premier Jim Prentice.

The 60 year old was killed in a plane crash with three others on Thursday, October 13th. The Cessna Citation crashed 8 minutes after leaving the Kelowna airport. A friend of Prentice and retired businessman Sheldon Reid, Calgary optometrist Dr. Ken Gellatly as well as retired RCMP officer Jim Kruk were the others killed.

After news of his death, condolences from across the country poured in. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Premier Rachel Notley, and other dignitaries spoke on the former Premier and the impact he left on others.

Prentice leaves behind his wife Karen, three children, and two grandchildren.

The memorial will be at 11:00 am at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary.
