The Peace River School Division will be dipping into their reserves once again to reach their $50.6 million budget for the 2014-15 school year.
Last year’s budget left $4.1 million in the reserve, which will be cut in half once the $2.4 million is taken out.
Board Chair Darren Kuester says they are drawing on those reserves for good reason, to make sure staff and students have the support, programming, and services they need.
Funding for instructional staff is up for next year, and two new coaches will be hired for the district- one for Inclusive Education Intervention, the other for Learning Technology.
Kuester says they have given themselves the ability to further support student mentorship and leadership, technology upgrades, school maintenance , and safe transportation.
