Crews tentatively scheduled to plow roads

Depending on the amount of snow we get, the snow plows will begin work on main roads tomorrow morning.

City Transportation Manager Robert Carroll says if 4 inches of snow is accumulated today, it gives them enough reason to send out graders and loaders. His employees are tentatively scheduled to be on the roads in the morning. He adds that the amount does depend on temperature and with warm temperatures set for next week, plows would most likely not get to residential neighbourhoods after this snowfall.

“We can get four inches of snow and the temperature is near zero, like it is now, minus 2 or 3. The traffic itself can beat that snow down and that takes care of it and we may not have to plow.”

He says there has to be 4 inches or 100 millimetres of snow accumulated in the residential areas for them to go there and he doesn’t see that happening this weekend. He explains that an examination of the area is done before crew members are sent in.
