Saskatoon Island Park camping extended by two weeks

The camping season at Saskatoon Island Provincial Park has been extended by half a month. As part of a pilot project, the campground west of Grande Prairie will be available until October 31. Normally, it’s shut down after the 15th.

The province is giving the longer year a try at three parks as demand for late-season camping grows. Another campground opened two weeks early. Alberta Parks says it will consider extending the season for other parks next year based on the results from 2016.

This is reportedly the seventh year in a row that the number of campground reservations have increased across the province.
