Four lanes of 68th Avenue to open by end of October

There should be four lanes of 68th Avenue open by the end of the month. The city of Grande Prairie has released an update on the twinning project work that is ongoing. They plan to have the roads back open for the winter. According to the city, the contractor will have all four lanes between Poplar Drive and 100th Street open by October 31st as long as the weather cooperates.

There is a to-do list set out for the contractors for the month of October. This includes the paving and transitions between 100th Street and Poplar Drive. There is also work set for concrete curb, paving and transition work from 100th Street to Kateri Drive. Between Kateri Drive and 108th Street, there is work to be done on the north lanes. There is also other work like the final lifting of asphalt, re-paving of sections of the north lanes, and the traffic signals at the intersection need to be turned on.

Bridge work is set to be complete by the end of the month but it will not be in use until next year.

Any unfinished work will be completed in 2017.
