Manning Comets taking leave of absence from NPHL

The Manning Comets will not be icing a team this year. The senior men’s hockey squad says they have had trouble finding enough committed players and will be treating this season as a rebuilding year.

The North Peace Hockey League has granted the club a one-year leave of absence. That leaves the NPHL with an eight team league for 2016/2017.

The Grande Prairie Athletics have returned after one year off, and the Valleyview Jets are back after three. The Lakeland Eagles of McLennan and Hythe Mustangs remains on hiatus.

The A’s will play their first game on the road in Fort St. John on October 29th.
