If it hasn’t happened to you, it’s likely happened to someone you know. A pushy salesperson show up at your doorstep trying to get you to buy a product or service. They may even try to get into your home.
Constable Melanie McIntosh says RCMP continue to get reports of people using aggressive sales tactics door-to-door. She reminds residents than unless it’s an officer with a warrant, you never have to allow anyone into your home.
McIntosh recommends always asking for someone’s photo and business ID, and carefully reviewing any contracts to check for information on maintenance and repair and cancellation clauses before signing.
Call 9-1-1 if anyone tries to get into your home without permission. Enforcement Services can also be reached to see whether a company has a valid licence to sell door-to-door.
