Victim’s identity unknown after fatal crash near Little Smoky

RCMP and the Medical Examiner’s Office are working to identify the victim of a fatal car crash and fire on Highway 43. Emergency Services were called to a section two kilometres west of Little Smoky around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning.

A witness who called 9-1-1 said a westbound vehicle had hit a semi-trailer unit that was parked on the right hand side of the highway. The vehicle caught fire, and when the Fox Creek Fire Department extinguished the flames, a body was found inside. At this point, their gender and identity is unknown.

Police are also looking into why the semi truck and trailer were parked on the side of the highway. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Fox Creek RCMP.
