Due to delay in shipping materials, the opening date for the aquatics area of the Eastlink Centre has been postponed to September 30th. The pool has been closed since September 6th for major renovations.
The original date for the reopening was set for September 24th and the 50 metre pool is still set to reopen on October 22nd at 6:00 am as scheduled.
Operations Manager Richard Fletcher says they will continue to work to avoid further delays in the maintenance. He adds that the supplies they are waiting for are necessary for warranty and upgrade work.
Some of the work includes installing panels around the aquatics area to reduce echo in the facility as well as standard maintenance on the water park area. This will include valves, pipes and pumps being checked.
The athletics, fitness area and field house all remain open during construction. The food court will also be accessible during regular business hours.
