Storm forward suspended five games for head shot

A Grande Prairie Storm player has been suspended for five games for an illegal cross check. The Alberta Junior Hockey League has assessed the match penalty to forward Zac McNeill for a blow to the head of Oil Baron Jayden Pannu during a game in Fort McMurray Saturday.

The contact came 8:38 into the third period. At the time, McNeill was given a 10 minute game misconduct penalty, five minutes for the hit to the head, and another two for slashing.

The Storm lost that match 8-0, following a 4-0 loss to the Oil Barons on Friday. The local team will be looking for their first win of the regular season at their home opener versus the Drayton Valley Thunder Friday at Revolution Place.
