Superintendent urges caution after three collisions with cyclists at intersection

A series of collisions involving vehicles and cyclists at one intersection in Grande Prairie has prompted a caution from a local school district superintendent. Two crashes at 68th Avenue and Highway 40 were reported within five hours Thursday, and another sent a young man to hospital Monday afternoon.

Grande Prairie Public School Division Superintendent Sandy McDonald calls the accidents a “disturbing trend” in a Facebook post. He’s urging drivers to pay extra attention when heading through construction zones and near schools and playgrounds until everyone is back to normal traffic routines and patterns.

Much of 68th Avenue has been under construction since the spring.
